My aim is to get everyone—parents, child, and therapist—on the same team, pursuing the same goal, with the same game plan.

Child Therapy: Approach

In my work with children, parents are the ones who usually initiate the therapy, leading children to be more resistant to the process. Therefore, I seek to establish a non-adversarial relationship with the child. My goal is to help the child understand how their problem is getting in their way. Once this is achieved, then both the child and I work together on how to overcome the problem. Experientially, the child goes from “having a problem” to “fighting a problem.” My aim is to get everyone—parents, child, and therapist—on the same team, pursuing the same goal, with the same game plan.
